Erie / Niagara Fishing Report 5-16-17

After a week of heavy rains and wind coupled with several cold fronts it looks as if the Niagara region is starting to get back on track as far as Smallmouth Bass fishing.

Fish have started to cooperate in all areas of both Lake Erie and the Niagara River working a variety of baits including Strike King coffee tubes with 1/4 oz pro tour insert heads and Rage tail swim baits in 10 to 30 feet of water has been the ticket for Bronzeback up to 7lbs with good numbers of fish in the 4lb range.

Best colors have been Goby Magic for tubes and Ghost Shad for the swimbaits. Look for the fishing to really heat up as warmer temperatures should increase the 47 degree water temperatures and send the prespawn Smallies on the feed.
