Sunline will be launching a new 100% fluorocarbon product at ICAST called Assassin FC. This is the first US product featuring P-ion Technology. P-ion technology is a patented line processing technique developed in conjunction with Plasma Concept Tokyo Inc, a Tokyo Institute of Technology venture. P-ion processing is the world’s first atmospheric –pressure plasma to fishing line. When applied to fishing line P-ion processing improves slickness, abrasion resistance and longevity of line by altering the line’s surface to allow resin to bond at a molecular level.
This allows the line to retain key characteristics much longer than traditional resin processing.
Development of the patented process originally began in 2008 with a university professor. In 2009, Sunline began working with the professor to develop plasma treated fishing lines. From 2010-2014 Sunline R&D Department tested the technology and it’s capabilities in the lab and in fishing conditions to fine tune the process and fully determine the capabilities of the P-ion process. In September 2014, Sunline begins shipping the first product in Japan utilizing the P- ion process, Fine Float II. Orders and sales in the first month were both records for the product and have continued into 2015. In October 2014, a patent was awarded for US, Japan and China. US Patent#8866389. Now in July 2015, the first US product with P-ion processing is being launched in the US. Assassin FC features the P-ion processing for a high performing line offered at a competitive retail that will perform better and last longer than lines at similar prices. Assassin FC features a 225 yards per spool providing an angler over 10% more line than standard spools.
Assassin FC is being offered in 8lb, 10lb, 12lb, 15lb, 20lb and 25lb.
MSRP of $19.99-$21.99. Availability is expected for early July 2015.
